I can't figure it out plz help

I have a 2001 Honda civic and I jus replaced the gear shift and the cable that runs from the gear shift to the transmission, the cable that makes it go into gear. But I'm having the same problem. I can drive it for only a few mins bc once it gets hot it stops shifting. It will jump out of gear and not move. I don't know what else to fix. Is it my transmission all together bc when I got the car I was told the transmission was fairly new. Plz help me bc I have kids and a job and I'm having trouble getting anything done without my car.

Have you checked the state of the transmission fluid? Is there any fluid at all?

That will be what your problem is. Here's to hoping you address it quickly enough - otherwise you may need another transmission.

This sounds like the internal filter is clogged, and the transmission is toast. It quits when it gets hot because the clutch material running throughout the fluid clogs the filter and prevents fluid flow.

That very well could be, '01-'02 I think were the worst with that issue. Let's see what adding ATF does, maybe they will get lucky.

Use only genuine Honda fluid! My 2003 shifted like crap on aftermarket fluid. After I dumped and refilled issues were gone. I have to do it again now that the old crap is getting worked through its shifting goofy again.
