Cooling system water still blue after four rinses
Cooling system water still blue after four rinses
I've been draining (from the radiator petcock valve) and filling (from the radiator filler) the 2002 Civic LX 1.7L cooling system with distilled water. I've done this four times now, each time followed by running of the engine until the fans have come on twice (which does happen at 93ēC). The latest 2 times I did this with the thermostat removed. The water is still coming out blue from the petcock valve. Each time it seems like 3/4 gallon of fluid comes out. So that leaves 1/4 gallon of old content behind since the cooling system capacity is 1.03 gallons (automatic transmission). Does anyone have any idea how many such rinse cycles does it take to reach clear water? It appears to be just slightly less blue than the first drain I performed just 5 days ago. I just want all antifreeze out of the system before I use K&W Engine Block Seal.

engine block seal type is likely to finish killing the engine...
get a head in a junkyard, so you can still use the block

Whole cooling system is junk if you put that stop leak crap in. Engine too.

I'm rather convinced by the experiences posted here:

The leak stop stuff won't fix the issue anyways. Combustion gases pushing past the head gasket into the coolant. If it were the other way around, maybe.
You'd be better off buying a used engine. You're more than welcome to try that product, it is your car. Just don't get your hopes up.
