HydroLock Damage
just recently my civic went through a little hydrolock.....I went through a puddle and then my car started to struggle so I turned off the car and let it chill for awhile, there was white smoke comin' out of my engine, I suppose it could be steam but I don't know, well apparently some water went in the engine, but after that I turned on my car and it runs fine (I drove 80 milies after that).....my question is, should I get my engine checked for permenant damage? What kind of damage(s) can a little water in the engine do?

I would just drive and hope for the best.
Can you say bypass valve? the first thing you would notice is rough running and bad gas milage. If anything does'nt sound right ..take it in. If not then you just goT really f#c$ing lucky.
If it happed once it probably will happen again get a bypass valve or a short ram for winter
Oh yea... get an oil change as soon as possible. That is where the water ends up.

Do you hear any strange noises from the engine?
Such as louder knocking? ihkskim drove with water in his engine and it eventually destroyed one of the pistons.. he is getting an engine swap right now.
But he drives an 99-00 accord I-4.
IMO, if your engine is acting normal...just ignore the hydrolock event and drive on.
