replacement engine, vtec - all of them seem expensive?
replacement engine, vtec - all of them seem expensive?
engine is pretty trashed. running on 3 cylinders, probably two rod bearings spun. went looking at salvage yards. mine is the EX vtec 01. i cant seem to find one for less than 700 in ?? condition and like 1400 for known working.
so i see rebuild kits are about 280-350. anything i should know about a rebuild on these cars? i figure machine shop around 80-150 for bore/deck/haircut. only replace what is broken.
are there any problem cases with these guys that baloon the rebuild? ive never rebuilt anything with sparkplugs before

there are so many around here. hell i have a 4x4 CNC mill on my back portch but its Z height isnt enough.

they did the haircut and valve job same day for me too. cast iron at that

you can try looking into JDM engine sellers.
Engine is basically the same, code is D17A instead of D17A2 in your car.
(Japan emissions taxes make hard to keep an older car, so many low mileage engines from scrapped cars)
but 700 bucks is not bad at all

yea i get 700 isnt bad but for a 500.00 car. plus a 700 engine that may or may not have problems? id rather rebuild myself. thats been my sticking point to salvage stuff, you never know.
