Slight ticking sound - at idle and under throttle...
2005 EX 4D
298,000 miles
Any idea what I should check related to this sound? Is this a normal sound?
Civic has been sitting for about a month, finally replaced both belts. Engine ticking was present before belt job - FYI.
Checked oil level - good. Not sure what else to check for this issue?
Injectors? Assuming maybe from direct inject, sound just seems more prominent than in the past.
The AC compressor is shot, not sure if that is the noise either?
Thanks in advance...

Re: Slight ticking sound - at idle and under throttle...
The most likely culprit is definitely valve lash, but it’s one of those things. At 300k miles, it’s not going to sound like a brand new engine.
