Engine Smoke after vehicle was idle for a few years

Hi Everyone,

Hoping someone can give me some guidance. My 2003 Civic LX has been sitting in my garage for about 3 years, I decided to get it back up and running. Haven't done any maintenance during that time. When I started the vehicle, smoke was coming out of the engine. I asked my friends, they say it should be normal because the Oil hasn't been changed for a long time, plus some built-up dust. Check the fluids for the power steering, engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid, It all looks normal. I could top up the engine oil. I played it safe and turned off the vehicle because I was worried about the smoke. Need to know if it's a good idea to restart the vehicle again and keep it running for a while to get things moving. Appreciate the help, thanks!

Circle area is where smoke was coming out.

Maybe oil burning off the exhaust manifold? It looks like it needs some maintenance for sure.

with that much oil spread out on the surface, it is going to smoke... Clean it first.
when removing the cover, check if no damaged wires

Normal from it sitting looks like it needs a new valve cover gasket though
