So... I just bought a 2003 civic lx with 250000 km 2 months ago. Head gasket and timing belt had just been done when I bought it. It currently has a cracked exhaust manifold that's been jb welded temporarily lol it's been a great little car. Got an oil change instantly. Sea foam new fluids and filters the whole nine yards. She ran beautifully, love my car. I'm currently 1250 km away from my next suggested oil change. Cars engine is spotless. Doesnt leak a drop of oil. Doesnt burn any blue smoke. Idled absolutely fine no knocking ever. Then I'm driving it too work the other morning and its dark. I see a flicker of an oil light come on. So I check the oil while I'm getting gas, like I always do. Seemed fine but i put a little bit in just too almost top it up, but not too enough too be too much. So car starts fine and I think nothing of it. Get too the highway. I'm driving 120km/h all of a sudden my engine goes gutless. Didnt stall, was Still running, but just no *****. So I coast and pull over. Engine light comes on. Then a sudden knocking coming from my engine bay occurs once I come too idle. And then it completely shuts down. Like i could hear the engien slowing down and then stop. Car wont turn over and I assumed my engine was seized due too the knocking. Still not leaking any oil. Oil level was fine, but it was smoking from the oil reservoir?? Got er home on a uhaul tow dolly and ran some codes. The only thing that came up was my crankshaft position sensor.

so I'm just curious if my cps could cause my engine to knock? And if not could my engine be seized? Could my faulty cps have caused damage too my engine ? If my cps went why would my oil reservoir be smoking ? If it is a problem with my engine being seized would it read a code ? If it's another issue why wont it bring up other codes ?

Please help I just bought my first Honda and I love it. Not sure where too start and I'm on a budget.

Try turning the engine over with a breaker bar. The engine rotates CCW. Remove the belts and spark plugs to make it easier. How low was the oil when you checked it? How low is it now?
