Question camshaft sensor

02 civic 4dr LX had timing belt changed out at ~80,000mi at dealer. When engine heats up CE light comes on (83,000mi.) and subsequent loss of power.

Local (highly reputable) mechanic determined that the camshaft position sensor may be bad (410$ to fix). However, 1st question asked of me after getting CPS code was "have you recently changed the TB?" He went on to say that he was 99% sure dealer reassembled parts out of allignment and that is shorting out wiring, thus CE light and power loss. Furthermore, he said he has never, in twenty years, replaced a "bad" CPS other than those damaged physically by faulty timing belt jobs. He suggested that dealer should fix it gratis.

I am not knowledgable enough on subject to argue with the dealer and they can tear it apart and tell me it was just about anything then charge me again. I did call dealer and service rep immediately got defensive and transferred me to a voice mail.

Any advice either way?
