2001 civic lx brake light doesn't turn off [solved]

I found the following thread but it doesn't let me reply
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...c-2001-lx.html

I'm having the same problem which I temporarily fixed by disconnecting the negative battery terminal. The brake light won't turn on when the car is turned off and it won't drain the battery. But obviously I have to repeat this reconnect and disconnect every time I drive around.

Another problem is that my drive side door doesn't open due to being t-boned (https://www.civicforums.com/forums/3...eded-here.html)

Based on the previous post on the same problem the part that needs to be replaced is the following and I've attached a picture of the part I found on my driver side floor.

https://www.autozone.com/interior/br...ad/honda/civic

Is that fixable from the passenger side since the driver-side door doesn't open? How much will it cost ion terms of labor?

ok I've managed to open the covers to get to the brake pedal and the brake switch under the steering wheel. And I place the broken cone piece back into spot and then put gorilla tape over it and that appears to have fix the problem for now.

Should just have to replace the brake switch, it will be a pain in the *** since the door doesn't open. Removing the seat will help, disconnect the battery before you pull the seat

Removing the seat will also be a pain since the door won't open.

just did the switch stopper today.
trick part was that I was not aware that it is in a welded bracket sticking to the left of the pedal... When I found these pics in the internet I realized what I was doing wrong...
