Master door lock switch doesn't lock doors when keys are in ignition

My 04 EX Sedan's master door lock switch functions as expected without a key in the ignition. However, when the key is inserted, the switch will unlock all doors when pressed up, but will not lock all doors when pressed down (nothing occurs). Because the behavior changes depending on key insertion, I'm wondering if this is a feature of this car, or is it something that I have to troubleshoot?

but will not lock all doors when pressed down (nothing occurs).
Driver door open: no lock
Driver door closed: can lock
I'm wondering if this is a feature
Owners manual should cover it

The intent is to make it difficult to accidentally lock your keys in the car. You gotta make extra mistakes to lock the keys inside.

Makes sense. I must've had a door open while I was testing the switch. Thanks guys.
