2005 Civic climate/heater control button bulbs
My 3 buttons: Recirculate, A/C, and Econ.
Problem: when the lights are turned on, only the Econ button backlight is lit.
When the climate control is ON and any of the other 2 buttons are pushed, the rectangular indicator window for each button lights up as it should.
The problem is that the backlighting for the icons on these 2 buttons are not lighting as they should when the lights are turned on.
Looking at diagrams online, it shows that there are 2 bulbs for this, both
Part number: 79609-S5A-003, which are 14v 100Ma bulbs.
My big question is this: if one or both of these bulbs failed, wouldn't ALL of
the backlights not work? I.E., I wouldn't see the Econ button backlight or
any of the indicator windows?
Any help appreciated!

On a 7th gen you should do them all at once. You will likely knock more filaments loose and you will be surprised how much brighter it will be.
3 button = 2 illumination bulbs, and all "on" indicators are LED.

What size LED bulbs fit in the climate control cluster? I'm doing a radio install and vynil wrap this weekend and I'd like to swap those bulbs out while I have everything apart.

You have to modify the OEM bulb base to accept LEDs and you have to position it so it shines right into the acrylic light dissipator thingy. You have to use SMD LEDs, too, since standard 3mm LEDs won't sit flush against the acrylic dissipator thingy enough to illuminate it properly.
Otherwise, it's gonna be dim as ****

I'll be damned, this website's DIY guides for LED conversion are still up. These are the ones I used to convert my 2002's to LED climate control, then later slightly modified the procedure (and bulb positioning by way of a lot of guess and check) to utilize brighter SMD LEDs
http://www.ledautomotive.com/guide.php?id_cms=27
while that site does supply conversion kits, I found the 3mm LEDs to not be bright enough for my liking
