Q: What is a test pipe? And what does it do? Are they legal?
A: It's a small section of pipe that replaces the catalytic converter. It reduces restriction in the exahust setup and usually yeilds some additional HP. These are illegal for street use.

However, you will not see more than 1-2 hp gains on most hondas, because honda makes their cats very free flowing from the factory.

that and running a NA car w/o a cat sounds like absolute *** especially if you have a catback exhaust system....ill post a sound clip of what it sounds like on a cavalier...

Rep Power: 0 First off, good luck finidng a shop to make one for you, once they know what its for they won't even think about it, fines can range upwards of $10,000 for them if they do it. Second, my buddy ran without a catalytic on his del sol (with a dc cat-back) and it was really loud. Really raspy too, sounded aight if you got a car that can back up the noise. Never heard a 2k1 without one though...

Rep Power: 0 it is illegal if you have emissions. In central PA, we have no emissions, and I was passed with my Test Pipe. My inspector told me ill be cool until we get emissions testing here, which should be never. [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]
