infinity QX4......anygood?

hey guys, I might be buying one of these in the near future, I was wondering if they are decent trucks. I want to get a 1999, but I'm just not sure about their reliablity. Has anyone here ever owned one and had problems?

Look at the pathfinders of the same year. They are better versions on the same platform. nice trucks though

Very nice truck....Im not so sure about their ride though, and I know nissans are known for tranny problems so you may want to look into that....I would get a toyota 4 runner before I bought that truck.

yeah, check out the pathfinders, they're pretty nice SUV's. i personally would prefer a truck, though

Yeah, last gen Toyota 4Runners have always been the "better" SUV. And trust me on it, we bought the 4Runner *TWICE*.. liked it that much. But it was a close call, and Pathfinder did have its nice things (ie - tripple stitching on leather seats, opposed to double on the 4Runner). Nonetheless, it's one of the few "real" SUVs with body on frame platform.

It's very outdated for today's standards though. Toyota has already introduced a new generation 4Runner, as well as a Lexus version (GX470). It has optional V8, much bigger, and has host of electronic assistance features (vehicle skid control, hill ascend/decent control, locking differential, etc).

Honestly, when it comes down to SUVs, I think Toyota & GM rules. Nissan is very respectable, but to me, they've always been 2nd class.

I would have to agree with 01coupe in some aspects. The 4runner is excellent in reliablility and off road capability. As far as GM, I'm not a big fan. For that kind of money, i just don't see the value and class, its only a GM. The depreciation is just too high on GM to be a good investment for me.

Yeah, I used to think like you.. had no respect for GM products, especially after owning an 88 Buick Electra.

But I just recently rent a full size Silverado with Z71 suspension package, and I was blown away. The engine was extremely smooth, quiet, and torquey. Suspension was well sorted (for a truck) and took corners very very well for such a large vehicle. I can only imagine what a full luxery SUV would feel like.

Not fair to diss GM products that you've never driven

Well, i believe that the 99 only has a 165hp engine. and that's a little low for it's size. especially in auto. my dad drives a 95 pathfinder, and it has a 152hp 3 liter, and is also on the older bodystyle and ligher, and 5spd. and that thing is definatly a slug.

I'd say, if your going to get a Pathfinder/Q45. make sure you get one of the newer ones with the VQ35 in it (240hp for auto, 250 for manual). that either started in 2000, or 2001.

my gf owns a 02 qx4. i've driven it a few times. it rides pretty smooth. very luxurious. it is just a fancier pathfinder though. i wouldn't mid owning one myself except for the fact that i prefer little cars. but i like it. and believe it is 240 hp. if you get the chance i say get one
