Do You Know What I Am Sick Of?
Alrighty, this is the last time im gonna reply to a dumb thread regarding our cars top speed....
I dont have the EXACT number on the lx/dx but it is governed, by a fuel limiter at 180 km/h ish....thats about 112 mp/h....not 121.....120 mp/h is 200 km/h and the only the EX/SI can make it there..... The EX/SI is governed at 212 km/h or 127 mp/h, but it is governed by the vehicles redline, in other words, at that speed you have engaged the rev limiter...
Dont complain that you cant pass cars on the highway, you bought a car with 115 hp.
The old Lx had that problem too, infact, the old ex/si was governed as well at just over 180 km/h.
To all you new jr. members who keep making these BS claims, remember, we've all been through this repeatedly on this board, please dont be such a nuissance!
And the speed rating on the tires doesnt mean squat when taking your car to top speed! The speed rating is just a safety standard, its the maximum speed the tire has been to tested to safely operate at. I can take Q rated tires to 200 km/h, however i risk a blowout and its consequences at that speed and I would never be that STUPID!

I'm gona have to disagree with you on yor post. Redline on a Civic in 5th Gear is not at 127mph. Redline in a 7th Gen EX 5spd would be 7,200RPM (REV LIMITER NOT GOVENER) would be 157.45MPH. I Highly doubt that a Civic will be able to redline 5th Gear @157mph.
I don't know if this was referred to me or not, but yah my 5-spd EX cuts out just over redline at about 7,200 RPM. I'm not sure if 7,200 RPM is the actual figure set by the ECU, but it does go past the 7,000rpm mark.
145 no freakin way, and I seriously doubt 135. I've had my EX floored at 125 mph for about 30 minutes on a stretch through Louisiana on I-49 (flat and straight and at 3:45 am - didn't pass a single car) and there is no freakin way you can get that kind of speed. Seems like the car just doesn't get any more gas to push it any faster.
That might be, I'm not gonna testify to it or anything. I personally don't try to make a habit out of hitting my rev limiter.. I've only done it 2 or 3 times at that's right as I was shifting. Even still, my point was that I don't think our cars will even hit redline in 5th gear. Based on 7,000RPM rev limiter the max our cars could go "theoritically" is 153.08Mph. Wheter is 7,200 or 7,000, the point is our cars won't reach redline in 5th gear. Regardless of what others have said, the math doesn't add up.

Hey, BAK.. Can you verify my math for me. 125@5700RPM? I've never tried so I don't know an actual match between RPM and MPH. 125 should technically be 5715rpms.
Somewhere around 5800. At that speed all I did was glance at the guages for split seconds to look at the speedo, I wasn't really concentrating on the tach to verify it down to the detail. At 125 the Civic feels like it's doing about 150-155 (fastest I've been - in a Vette).

Maybe he just trying to get some attention being a new member and all. 145 in a vic...LMAO..give me a break. I have only had my vic to 115mph and seriously doubt the vic would be able to pull over 5500rpms in 5th.

The only real way to get the RPM's up there in 5th is to take 4th as far as it will go. Everyone talks $hit about these motors, but they are pretty peppy considering the gas mileage they squeeze out. If I wanted a fast car, I would have bought the Bullit I test drove or an SS. But considering I've got another 3 - 4 years of college (I work 40-50 hrs a week) to get my EE and I have to drive 45 miles to go to school and gas prices were at $1.65 when I bought it, I couldn't have asked for a better car.

Any car can get to a certain speed as long as the tranny is geared to it. A civic with a turbo and nitrous will still max at about 120 because all the mods are doing is getting you to your top speed quicker.
alright, you noobs go on and do your math and all.....
but it is a FACT, published in magasines, published by honda, and known by anyone who has taken there car to that limit.......
it is gonna stop at roughly 127 mph. Yes the limiter is 7200, however auto trannys wont go by 6800 cause the computer on the tranny will limit the rev at 6800.
All i can say is has anyone noticed how most of the senior members of this site dont reply to these things anymore..... Its not a coincidence.

Kevin to be perfectly honest i wasnt lookin at the RPM's so i couldnt tell u. I just know at 5am i had one hell of a straight away and i was racing my friends prelude and he was just ahead of me and he was doin near 140. I was not drunk and im darn sure i can read and it said 135. I havent gone that fast since then and this was like Sept of 01, was to spooky, felt if i moved the wheel just a fraction i was roadkill.
I wont put it past me that maybe i read the speed meter to fast but ill swear that it said 135 and thats what i believe i did. If i punch it again soon though ill chk RPM's Kevin but if memory serves me correct it was close to redline....real close i think.

well i dont know about 145 but i've gotten mine up to 128 stock
i haven't even tried wit the intake on.
mine is a EX 5 speed
and i would think a truck would cut of at around 115 top. my friends explorer cuts of at like 105.
most of the trucks/SUV's i see only have 120 on the speedometer
maybe it's just me

]q]Dammit you Junior Member, you should know that when you post something about achieving or doing something, you POST a freaking PICTURE or else NOBODY will believe you.
(Inside Joke to those that know) >>
Highlighted Bold areas are key! Maybe you missed the "Inside Joke" part.
Now on your post.
<< Ok look, just because he is a junior member doesn't mean he doesn't know anythingam >>
When did I say he didn't know anything or even implied that?
<< i am junior member and I've been around these boards longer than alot of you. If anyone remembers my first post with the scary face, you know what I'm talking about. >>
Then you should've gotten the inside joke there and the extreme sarcasm within my comment, freak I even made a comment on how it was a joke.
<< Lemme give you some advice. Go get a life, and stop flaming people because of their "junior member" status. >>
Sorry I don't take advice from "junior members"

You want some advice, how about getting the facts straight before you start preaching?
