WARRENTY ISSUE
ok i was thinkin about puttin 17's on my civic sedan but i went to the dealership and since i have a warrenty...i asked them..."WILL MY WARRENTY GET VOIDED IF I PUT 17's on the car?" they said yea it would void the warrenty and you wont be covered if your axels ever break
what should i do? Do 17's put a lot of stress on axels for them to break? he told me axels normally cost 250 or 300 to replace. I was also wondering ...what other problems do 17's cause to the suspension if any?

Dude, I've never had 17's break anything. It may put a little more stress on the steering, especially with a wider tire. Bottom line is, it will only void the warranty if honda can prove that your 17's actually were the cause of something breaking. Don't worry about it. If something is gonna break, it will break no matter what...just a matter of when and how bad. My car has been fine.
WHOOPS! And there goes your firestone tire warrenty!(obviously)

GO for the 17's!

The only way you would snap an axel would be if you neutral dropped or dumped the clutch out and 5G's. The tires would grab harder and bang, you just lost your halfshaft. Don't worry about it. The studs on the rotors will take all the stress.
i just went to the dealer a couple of minute ago with 17 to do some warrenty work...and they didn't say a thing about my exhaust or my rims......so i guess it depend on the dealer you go to....
This is bullsh't cuz why would new tires/rims void any warranty? Do they expect the firestones to last forever? What a load of sh't. And if this is a "tire size" issue, it still doesn't make any sense. How the hell would a change of tires/rims void the warranty... especially if you can consider changing the tires a personal RECOMMENDATION cuz no one wants their car living on firestones. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about because the car itself says what size tires the car can handle.
There is no dealer warranty on the stock tires (unless you actually get one from Firestone). At least that's what I know. This is ridiculous... voiding warranty for changing tires and rims? Damn, I didn't know Honda made Firestone tires...

Under the warranty act of 1970-something, it says the dealer has to prove it is the aftermarket part that caused the problem. So if your engine blows up they can't blame it on your wheels....
unless they are very creative
edit: to answer your question, they probably wouldn't be able to prove that the wheels caused something like a broken axle. Or you could just go to another dealer

What a total load of cow stuff your dealer is trying to push. My dealer sells Civics with ground effects, springs, exhausts, and 17 inch wheels. Man that car must have like no warranty at all.
Seriously, Honda would have to prove that the individual modification caused the failure. If you wire up a set of fog lights and do it incorrectly and smoke your electrical system, then that would be a void.
If you put on window tint and your wheel fell off, then no way is it related. I offer you this. You may want to keep your stock equipment. If you ever blow up your engine or tranny (something really big), put the whole car back to stock. Tint and stereo are okay (you used an adapter harness right?). Then have your dad go in and explain that the car just died. They will have no room to argue! I know a guy who blew up his motor three times with a supercharger. He kept replacing the parts and taking it back. Finally, they just lemon lawed the whole car. Face it, it is a game. They play it too. Do you think that my local Honda dealer tells people that their packages void the whole warranty. No, they say that the whole car is now warrantied. But you pay 2-3 times what you would pay if you did it yourself.
