96 accord?

hey all, i recently learned that my mom is going to be getting a new 2005 accord. well right now, she has a 96 accord LX with the 4 cylinder engine and theres a chance i could take it as a project car. pretty much is it worth it? i checked automotiveforums.com but they really dont have a very good section for this car. anyone have any numbers? or know what these cars are good at? itd be better then modding my 01 civic since thats my daily driver.

well, 1-2 years ago they were 1 of the most stolen cars. That car should have an F23 engine. They are pretty good cars. They have a large aftermarket support.... possibly more than the 7thgen Civic. A good idea is a H22 engine swap.... even if the Accord is auto, H22 also has an auto tranny.... just not as powerful and hyped up as the manual counterpart.

well if u like the car go for it but think what you wanna do to it first how much its going to cost you etc and then decide if you want to keep it i personally like that generation accords morea than any other also in that gen they used the c27a4 which was the previous 1st gen legend engine, a pretty good engine

make the civic the project car and keep the accord for daily driving.

old cars like the accord look a little weird fixed up plus they are waaay more popular then 7thgen civs

well im looking at prices for everything, and the accord is way cheaper so that will be the project car if i do take it. plus if i need something theres a whole lot more of them in junkyards. so pretty much $$ is a big issue here lol.

We picked up a 97 Accord sedan SE 4cyl for a little over 7k several months ago. The struts blew recently so I dropped it with Neuspeed sport springs and Konis. I also took care of all the recommended 100k maintenance, so we've spent less than 9k total and overall I prefer it to my 15k civic, damnit. Quick specs off the top of my head:
2900 lbs
~130 hp and tq
wishbone suspension

I'll have to clean her up and take some pics, it looks so much better lowered.

I'd take HustleLikeMOFO's advice. That's what I would do anyway.

My mom has a '97 LS and it runs great. Personally I like the way the car handles and we didn't even do anything to it. I would do a sick suspension setup and depending on how far you wanna take it, do an H series swap. It could be a good platform to work with.

I'd get it. Some suspension mods would be great on it...
