Exclamation Fuel door won't open

Cannot open the fuel door on my 2006 Civic EX. I looked at the push pull thing and the trunk opens, but not the fuel door. I looked on YouTube and ordered a part that is supposed to work for up to the 2005 model, but some said it works for the 2006 and up, but the part hasn't arrived yet. When I looked at where the part is to go, it does not appear to be broken. Supposedly there is something I can do in the trunk area to get the fuel door to open, and the guy on YouTube had a video, but what he showed didn't correspond to what I see in the trunk and I couldn't figure anything out. Would appreciate any insight. I cannot get gas as things stand, and I'd rather not pay big bucks to the dealer to get my fuel door to open. Thanks.
