Plugs, tips

Greetings: I'm new to this forum, and just bought a Plat. white Civic Sport, 2-door, 6-speed, (K20C2,2 liter, non-turbo) (Took 2 1/2 months to get it since manual 2-doors are super rare). I know it's pretty gutless in the big scheme of Honda vehicles, but I really like the brake feel, and the steering.....Question: I gather it has coil-on-plug ignition. Does anyone know what the stock plugs are? Any tips for a Civic newbie? Thanks !

Re: Plugs, tips

Plugs are always either NGK or Denso.
Not due til around 100,000 miles
(you don't gain power from spark plugs)

Tips? Not really. RTFM ......especially on how the maintenance minder works, and how to deal with the low tire warning light when necessary
Be wary of modding while it's still under warranty, you could be denied

COS.... The wave of "plastic" fumes seemed really strong when I got into the car for the first time.... by far the strongest "new car smell" I've ever smelled. I heard in Europe, they hate the "new car smell", but Americans supposedly like it. (I don't do the air freshener thing) Anyone else notice this?

Our service info is online now, nothing is issued on paper.

Aftermaret online service info like Alldata and Mitchell usually have very sparse info until the cars are a couple years old (see if your local library has access to any info service like these)

If you want the same service info a dealership gets, check out Honda Service Express:

Roger that ezone and chayworth. Another question... I can’t find anything meaningful in the slim owners manual about the green eco switch by the shifter. I can imagine this feature maybe in an auto (CVT), but I’ve got a manual. It bumps the timing a tad? Secretly pumps your tires to 60 psi? Runs on 2 cylinders? Runs lean? Tells you to stay home?

From a post I made several years ago, but I don't think the system has changed:

ECON button functions (remember this button is now on several other models so these may or may not apply to Civics), and keep in mind that there are some trade-offs as far as acceleration, comfort and convenience:

The happy little green light illuminates, and it may modify:

trans controls, (shift points are lowered)

the electronic throttle, (reduces throttle opening for a given pedal input, while at less than 80% of WOT. At 80% and greater, you still are receiving the normal full throttle response)

climate control, (compressor cycle time and temps, blower fan speed, recirc operation)

cruise control, (limits acceleration/throttle opening rates when engaged, which may allow more vehicle speed variations esp. on hills)

auto-idle-stop for hybrids. (widened ambient temp ranges allowed for autostop)

It's made of Honda manual fluid. Don't use anything else

^^^^^ ? COS. There appears to be a “magnet assembly” next to the manual trans drain plug. (see diagram) does anyone know, if this is removed, will trans fluid pour out? Do most guys not bother with a magnetic drain plug since the “magnetic assembly” is there?

Re: Plugs, tips

The magnet is inside the trans case so you'd have to split the case to remove it.
