just goto balise on riverdale.....i went, and was out in 10 minutes. if you dont have a check engine light on, then you are good to go, and wont do emmissions.

I cleared my lights
they told me i needed amber lights for the turm signals.
They offered to do it for me but it was too expensive

Well, from what I'm seeing in your Member's Ride, you might have problems with your cleared headlights if you dont have amber bulbs (like noname), your tint if its too dark, and I dont know how they treat aftermarket intakes. I hear its also easier to get your inspection sticker from the dealership rather than a random garage. HTH

2 yrs ago, in my 95 civic the guy refused to do it because of my DC sports short Intake.. he said they we're illegal, becuase they alter the emissions. I told the guy to his face that he was an Idiot, and that it had passed inspections before. So then i drove a mile up the street to the toyota dealership & they passed it!..
later on i called the registry to ask about it, and they said that intakes are fine & shouldn't affect your inspections. So I filed a complaint against that guy.

ok i don't have the check engine light on but i do have the SRS light on from when i took out my front seats i was an idiot and didn't take my key out of my ignition when i took them out

Rollin0n18s: Just reset your ECU. Check under the hood and find your fuse box. Look on the underside of the lid for "ECU". Find that fuse and pull it. Then wait a while, maybe 30 seconds or so. Then put it back in. Start the car and see if the Check Engine Light went off.

Anyway, I didn't get rejected. I don't have a front license plate, but I put it on for the inspection.

Okay, anyone know the thing with turbo's? Will a turbo not pass inspection? Probably won't huh? Where the hell can I go to pass inspection with a turbo? [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

Whoops! I read your post wrong. Did you try the trick of resetting the Maintenence Required light? I think you do that by pressing the little mileage thingie on the dash and turning your key to the on position. Then you wait a little while and finally release it. Something like that anyway.

I'm a freind of Bhaz and he used to live in the area. Now he lives in the middle of nowhere...haha. I think its Housatonic...in the Berkshires. I'm close to there though...in East LongGhetto...hehe.

Oh man that sucks Sam...

When I went to a gas station to get my inspection done for the first time with my intake (y'all know that monster in my engine bay ), the guy popped the hood and stared at it for like 10 seconds...then he turned to me and went "Oh that aint legal...hey [coworker's name], come check this out dude!" [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] He said the reason it was borderline was because of the exposed filter, but it passed anyhow [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG]

Tint is tricky...my car was originally from TX, so they have different tint laws down there...luckily, whoever put in the tint had it just at 35%, so I have no issues. Now if I could only get my windows fixed and have it not peel anymore [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG]

haha maybe I could try a diffrent shop, the mechanic I spoke to was a jerk....

Yeah, try a different shop first then hit the dealership. They might be more expensive ([IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG] ) but it'll probably be more of a paint to take off the tint then put it back on.

i just went for my sticker jan 29th most of you have seen my ride and how dark my tint is. i passed with no problems. even with the after market intake. i thought i was going to have to switch it ..

my ride is at 15 % tint.. so you should have no problems

But for the long and short of it:

Massachusetts requires all motor vehicles to be inspected each year for safety. These inspections are performed by licensed inspection stations throughout the state. The inspection fee for all vehicles is $29, payable directly to the inspection station.

Gasoline powered vehicles are required to undergo an emissions test, currently administered at the same time as the safety inspection. Emissions testing for diesel powered vehicles will begin January 2001. Vehicles model year 1983 and older will not be required to have emissions tests. New cars will be exempt for their first two years. NOTE: visible smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe is considered a safety related failure, applicable to all vehicles regardless of age.

For all types of motor vehicles, including trucks, buses and commercial vehicles, the following items will be checked during your annual inspection. If you pass, a color-coded sticker will be placed on the lower right hand side of your windshield. The Certificate of Inspection or sticker is valid for 12 months from the time of issue, or until transfer of ownership of the vehicle. Should the vehicle fail a safety item, repairs must be obtained before driving the vehicle. Emissions failures must be repaired within 60 days. All failing vehicles will receive one free reinspection at the original station within 60 days of the original test.
