Dorifto!

Had some fun in some parking lots today with ma boyz Havok2k1 and this one dude Chris and TwilightX. First I went to this one that was only somewhat slick; wet pavement but no snow. We had some fun in that one. I had the traction and the power to do almost anything. The highlight for me was a couple of full revolutions by initiating a spin and keeping it going with power to the front wheels and locking the rear wheels every now and then. I must have done like three to four complete revolutions before getting bored. Hehe...

Then we went to this one parking lot that was pretty well lit and that was snowy as all hell. We did some nice little low speed slides on that shizzy. We had our lights turned off to not attract too much attention. There was this one moment when me and TwilightX were coming towards each other and did a simultanious spin. He in one direction and me in the other. We were locked! hehe... Then TwilightX was doing some quasi drifting with the arm sticking out the window. Good times man, good times.

Oh yeah, then on the way back to Havok2k1's house I do something stoopid! The road turned left, but there was a sort of driveway going straight. I went straight. Haha! I just stopped and nothing happened 'cause I was only going like 30mph. I just totally missed the turn though, I didn't think that there was a turn. No signs or nuthin' either. Oh well...

Anyway, just felt like sharin'. I want to do more of this kind of stuff. I like to know where the limits of traction are so that I can avoid weirdness in weird situations in the future if you know what I mean.

My question is, was the dual drifting a foot apart intended, or accidental accompanied by you two shitting yourselves?

I was going off an off ramp (213 to 495)

and my rear end started to slip out "this is awsome!!"
but before i knew it my whole car is sliding sideways
and right when i reached the end of the ramp
my rear hits the guard rail and tears off my whole bumper
it took my like 20 mins to put it back on
now there is a crack from top to bottom !!! on the right side

i suck

Did that happen recently??? What the flock! We should get something together to make sure everyone knows how to put the bumper back on in like 5 minutes considering that everyone seems to have bumper issues lol

The rear bumper, right? Wow, that sucks. It's really hard to control the car when the rear end starts sliding out. It seems weird, but you don't hit the brakes. You steer in the direction of the slide and let up off the gas, then bring it back in when it slows down a tad. Although you need to do this at the instant that you start skidding. If you wait too long you're fux0red and you might as well try to brake hard and steer in the opposite direction of the skid to pull out of it.

Recently I had some damage from the rear sliding out too. When me and Phil went and did some crazy things in this one empty parking lot near his house. This one rear sway bar bolt came loose or sheered off and the other one was hanging on by a few threads.

Check this out! This is how I found it one day.

I bought some new bolts (grade 8 instead of grade 5) and I torqued them down more than I did last time. The suggested torque for a grade 5 3/8-16 bolt is 33 foot pounds while the suggested torque for a grade 8 3/8-16 bolt is 47 foot pounds.

Grey holy crap!! only you can do that G, how hard were you driving???!!
yeah the rear didn't just slide.... it whiplashed out
I let off the gas and steered the direction of the slide but it wasn't good enough
unfortunatly information at that moment that was being sent to my brain didn't go fast enough so i kinda hesitated to countersteer,
I was like"....................... ......what's goin on???....... TURN THE WHEEL!!"
for like a second....cause i havent done any crazy driftingness im awhile

Twilight
yea I think it was last weds night...
I had just gotten my inspection sticker, renewed my registration, and installed the amber sidemarker lights..and replaced my headlights....

Yeah, I don't know... We were gettin' really crazy. There were these chunks of ice on the pavement and I slammed into those sideways once. Maybe that did it. I checked the alignment after and that everything is allright. Then later on I looked at the sway bar in back and I'm like "Holy ****!".

Anyway, yeah. When it slides out really fast there isn't anything that you can do really. Maybe brake I guess. If you have ABS then brake and steer. That maybe would have helped. Who knows...
