cold ai intake
Re: cold ai intake
Your not being rude.
this is the one I would get if you can find it for the LX, they only have it for the Si on this site.

Or this one.

Re: cold ai intake
The different b-engines have different parts. The b18c5 throttle body is 62mm for example, every other B is 60mm or 58mm.
Anyway.
BDL, Edelbrook and Spoon make good throttle bodies up to 70mm, you could also have the stock one ported. Blox and Skunk2 also make throttle bodies, but the quality is generally not great. Edelbrook makes really good manis too.

Define regular b-series?

Re: cold ai intake
A venom intake manifold is overkill for a basically stock engine, Golden Eagle makes a similar manifold that's also great quality. Something that flows that obscene amount of air is more of a turbo part. If your going to spend $600-700 on something in your engine other than I/H/E supraman I would get a cam.
Re: cold ai intake
well im looking up camshafts... and i cant tell which ones better lol, i heard more of skunk2...

Re: cold ai intake
I don't like anything skunk2 makes, but check out exospeed, I know they have a good mild came for the y7.

Another options would be a straight up head swap for something better like a d15b, d16z6 or d16y8.

Re: cold ai intake
the thing is i dont wanna do engine swaps, cuz then ill get confused on the mileage, and i wont know what the TRUE engine is. you know? (i dont want too much confusion but add more power), so tehres elberock (or whatever it is), whats with the stage 1,2 and 3? are those levels that i have to reach after time of 1 and 2 to make it to 3?

Re: cold ai intake
Im jumping into this convo a bit late you'll have to excuse me. My advice is stick to the factory stuff. You have to keep in mind these intake systems are intended for maximum hp. But max hp where? 9/10 at peak. How often are you going to be at peak? And from one (former) y7 to another, it takes FOREVER to get to peak. You loose your bottom (what little there is already) and your middle to gain at top. It's impractical IMHO. That being said, my recommendation is to go with an integra set up. You can search around on the threads for the DIY integra icebox mods and they will give you moderate gains over your stock LX set up and a better midrange and bottom then the k&n plus you wont have to worry about heat soak like you do with SRIs. If you do the icebox you wont have to worry about hydrolocking like you do on CAI and its been proven time and time again that OVERALL the stock stuff out performs the aftermarket stuff. OVERALL. plus its cheap. If you want the noise, use the integra arm and cone without the box. If you want max performance, look at the samco arms to match up to the integra set up. get yourself an aftermarket filter like K&N, spoon, Blitz etc, and youll be good to, no heatsoak, no hydrolock, good overall power.

Re: cold ai intake
Im not trying to poop on your parade and im not going to be like these other people on this forum who want ou to do what they either wished they could do or what they think iß cool. Im just here to provide you with info you know? If you want that y7 to do anything but get groceries at 35mpg then your powerplant needs replacing, not your intake. Silly bolt ons wont do much good on that y7 its already pretty well done stock. Ifyou want to max out your potential reliably, either take the advice before and mini me gswap it
