hi, i have a 2001 civic dx with the 1.7 and its all i drive since my truck died. i like the car and it has low miles but i live in the mountains and want it to have better power and traction for the hills and snow. I know it sounds dumb but i cant get a awd car so im stuck with the civic. I would rather just fix up the car to make it better ie better tires, possibly better fuel delivery, if anyone has any ideas?

Can’t do much about the power unless you swap a VTEC head on it.

Get some nice snow tires. That will be a great improvement in traction.

gotcha, ill prolly just get the snow tires, maybe wider rims, i was looking at these american racing AR921 5 spokes theyre 15x7 so i think that extra 1.5" of tread might help. as for the head, where do you think i would get that and my car isnt vtec so would a vtec head actually work?

You would have to add VTEC by swapping the head and other VTEC parts. There are threads on the subject. Not worth the money or time IMO but research it and see what you think.

For winter tires you generally want to go with a narrower tire.
