I picked up a redtop a while ago through summit racing. It has gotten me through 2 winters with negative temps. It will fit in the stock civic location.

if you noticed the yellow tops are deep cycle and designed for more electronics where as the red is designed for performance cars that need a little more versitlity
(QUOTES FROM PAGE)

"RED"- If your battery is used in vehicles that demand extra reliability and performance, or if you just take pride in getting the best performance out of your vehicle, OPTIMA RedTop batteries deliver the performance you demand.

"YELLOW"-If your vehicle has a lot of accessories like running lights, high-performance stereo/AV system, winches, or hydraulics, your vehicle demands more from its battery. OPTIMA YellowTOP batteries provide the extra performance and deep cycling capability that your vehicle demands.

The yellow top is for vehicles with high current-draw equipment that is often energized when the engine is off. High-power amps for a stereo is a good example. Since the Yellowtop is a deep-cycle battery, it generally does not have as long a life as a standard battery, such as the Red Top. Both batteries are AGM batteries (Glass Mat) and are leak and vibrationproof. Now, for those of you who do not want to spend the big bucks, check out this list of recently tested batteries from Consumer Reports:

Best for cold weather performance:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Interstate: $75
3. Advance Autocraft, series 75: $55CR best buy
4. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
Advance Autocraft, series 34/78: $75 CR Best buy
"All of these batteries deliver a good blend of life and cold-starting power in their group size."

Best for warm weather performance:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Advance Autocraft, series 75: $55 CR Best buy
3. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
4. Advance Autocraft, series 34/758 $75 CR Best buy
"The ProStart (1) and Advance (series 24 and 34/78) excelled in our life tests."

If reserve power matters most:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Interstate, series 75: $75
3. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
4. Advance Autocraft, series 34/78 North: $75 CR Best buy
5. Diehard, series 34/78: $90
"All excelled in reserve capacity. The Interstate and Diehard had superior CCA performance."

I'm guessing that the Optima was not included because of its higher-than-normal price range, which tends to restrict its sales to those who are extremely concerned about leaks. That being said, I've been driving since 1974 and have never had a leaking battery, so I guess we can compare buying an Optima to buying runflats?

yellowtop is about the same as stock, but can be drained and recharged without hurting the battery (good if you have amps and stuff). redtop has way more cold cranking amps than stock so you'll get better starts (our stock battery still has plenty of cca to start the car fine tho). So yellow is the better buy, and they have a group 51 that fits in the stock holder.

usafcushman is on a distinguished road
i recommend the Yellow Top...i got mine at Pep Boys, and i paid just over $100 for it (but i got a military discount)...

eBay has some good prices, but the one i ordered had a fvcked up negative post due to crappy packaging and shipping...

even if you pay like $120 for one, they're still worth the performance and reliability you'll have...just my $.02...
