Won't go into gear
Won't go into gear
So after swapping my motor from my automatic 95 civic to my new Honda Civic 5 speed I start to hear a whining/growling sound coming from the tranny so I proceeded to do a tranny oil check/change and come to find out not even barely a fluid oz came out so there for the mechanic that swapped the motor didn't do his job so after I put 2 quarts of oil in it and let it off the jack stands and turned it on and let it run for a minute the noice what i was hearing sounded like it was starting to quiet up so I started lightly reving the engine from under the hood little at a time to help the tranny warm up and fluids to work there way thru it and all the sudden after the 3-4 rev it jerked forward and stalled and now it won't go into any gear. I'm really really hoping that i don't have to replace the tranny now
Re: Won't go into gear
I'm guessing it goes into gear but doesn't go anywhere? Like it has a bunch of neutrals?
Check your axles. They link to an intermediate shaft so if one pops out, the transmission won't engage.

Re: Won't go into gear
Shifter was not in gear when this happened? Check your shifter cables. You can also remove them from the transmission and see if it will shift normally from there. If not, transmission is coming out.
