Rep Power: 0 Manual Shifter out of alignment
Hey guys,
My 97 (5spd) shifter is out of alignment. What I mean is that gears 1,3,5 are pushed way forward, neutral is slightly forward, and 2,4,R are where neutral should be. My transmission feels good, clutch is good, gears shift and stay, but just the shifter itself is out of line, does anyone know why this may be?
Is it possible that the cable is just overly tight and will become loose with time?
Thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Also check the torque mounts (the engine mounts that keep the engine/transmission from rotating).
If these go the engine can rotate a good half inch forward or backward.

I just got a new engine mount for my civic, so it's probably part of the reason why it's forward now.
My car was serviced recently, so I assume it's the engine mount since nothing needed to be replaced.
Thanks guys
