Rep Power: 0 Black Residue D16Z6 Might Swap to B Series (noob)
Hey I’ve had a 95 civic coupe for a few months now with a stock D16 SOHC VTEC 5 speed. The oil did run out quick once or twice and there is black residue in the muffler tip. A private “mechanic” said the engine might be bad and I did plan on an engine swap down the line. I was looking into a B18C1 since I heard it’s more affordable and still performs. It is VTEC and manual tranny. Would it be better to swap the whole engine and tranny? Also would I need to change anything else since it is a step up in power. The left axle has been cracking and it’s ready to be replaced. Any other engine swaps that you recommend? I’m looking for a solid engine preferably on the cheaper price and most likely will be getting it used.

You can not just swap the engine if that's what you are asking.
You'll need
-engine
-matching transmission
-mounts
You will probably need the ECU and harness, but double check to see if the two engines use the same ecu/harness.
