I've got a 1999 Civic SiR and there is not a lot of room for aftermarket door speakers. What's a decent replacement and are you doing any modifications to the door of that speaker cover you have to take off to gain access to the speaker?

I like Pioneer. I picked up a set after my speakers blew and they still sound pretty good. I’m not 100% sure what you mean by modification though. They’re just standard 6.5” speakers, like almost every other car of that era.

Go to Crutchfield and look through all the different ones they offer, they'll even tell you what will and won't fit. I used JVC in my civic and really liked them

I have searched Crutchfield and they say all the 6.5 speakers will fit but that is only if you dremel out some of the plastic in the door and I don't want to do that. I found some shallow mounts which I know will work but not a large selection. Was just wondering what everyone is using and if they got away without doing any modification to the door

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard of needing to modify the space for speakers. I’ve never had any issues with fitment.

It depends on the speakers I got alpine type r and the ring was way to thick I ended up getting jl audio and they fit pretty snug

It is 6.5 just make sure the magnet isn’t to thick or it won’t fit

I got Kicker replacement speakers and they do exactly what I need although I hear the Alpines are superior quality.
