Re: Title Issues? Help?

It is over 100k. Does 3000 miles really make a big difference?
What makes you think Carfax is infallible?
Who didn't check the numbers before having the title done? Did the title match the odometer at the time of the sale?
If you aren't going to flip the car right away, I probably wouldn't raise a big stink over it.
Unless another title is totally free.

My opinions. I am not a lawyer, but I may play one on TV.

YMMV.

Re: Title Issues? Help?

There is the chance it was reported wrong the first time...i know some people go to DMV and guess on their paperwork.. But since you brought it to them they are now thinking someone is trying odemeter fraud so they would say your title is bad..at this point you have no choice but to get the paper work fixed...carfax in itself is not reliable...said my car was never in an accident and i am sure it was..

Sounds like a mindless clerical error.
Mileage is guessed at in the shop here all the time. One service advisor has dyslexia and is color blind.

In my mind, I doubt that anybody that is rolling mileage back at 100k+ is going to risk getting caught and only roll it back 3k. Would be more like 30k if they do it.

Digital odometer? Needs some seriously specialized equipment to do it. Doubtful that any average Joe is going to make that sort of investment.

How about a used cluster was put in to fix some issue? THAT could be a possible scenario. (I don't know what car the OP has or if this is even a possibility.)

Re: Title Issues? Help?

Its hard to say what happened. you would have to talk to the original owner if you can..I aggree that nobody is going to go through all that trouble for that little amount of miles..
