RPM misreadings/random spikes
RPM misreadings/random spikes
In my 98 EK hatch, the instrument cluster was swapped out with one from an automatic. Car starts right up and idles beautifully, but the tachometer reads 3k, when it obviously isn't idling that high. As i drive, the needle dances around and never reads correctly. I've read on other forums that when this happens, people are having performance issues as well such as bogging down on highways. My EK has no performance issues at all. Ill be doing 80 on the highway, the tach can read 3k and randomly spike to 5k and stay there. It NEVER goes past about 5200. Can anyone tell me how to go about fixing it, and why it does that? I was thinking about that if i can't solve this problem, id just buy an aftermarket one and install it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: RPM misreadings/random spikes
wow! a 2012 9th gen civic already having cluster electrical troubles? take it back to the dealer.
why did you change the cluster to an auto anyway? these cars are brand new still?
You posted on the 9th gen section, so it's a 2012, right?
