Optima Red or Yellow for my sit...
im debating if i should get a red or yellow Optima, i do have a system to where the point is my lights dim, i do always run my system with the engine on though. i dont want to get a cap, so should i get the red since i always have the car engine going or should i get a yellow for some reason. i do have lots of electrical devices though

Did you upgrade you battery and Engine ground to atleast 4 gauge...helps a lot. Also, upgarde the wiring from the battery positive to the alternator, but this can be a Royal pain in the ****.
Upgrading your wiring will help alot, and you should do it regardless of if you get a new battery or not.
...put it this way, you put the same gauge power wire running to your amps as ground wire, right? So why would you have so many things running off the battery with just an 8 gauge ground? It helped for me.

The Yellow top is a stronger battery. And i was able to squeeze one under the hood of my '01. Also consider a 1farad capacitor. This can actually be a better option then a larger battery, as the car runs off of the altanator when the engine is on. A "Cap" is designed to quickly store and relese power (voltage) as needed. Also you usually get higher voltage to your amp. Higher voltage = Higher power output.
this may sound stupid but i was wondering if there
was any possible way that you could put the
blue(marine) battery in the car instead of the red or yellow ?????
since i have the blue theme going on in the engine....
just a question.....
i thought i saw a member with a blue battery but not sure who it is...

your amplifiers are already a strain.
a capacitor? a strain.
the battery you want? you guessed it! further strain on teh alternator!
strain on yrou alternator is a sign of a weak electrical system. there is only ONE cure for a weak electrical system. new alternaotr. a battery doesnt MAKE power, it just stors it. exactly liek a capacitor.
but you didnt complain of a weak electrical system. your problem is with the dimming of the lights. and that is what the capacitor fixes.

i've had the cap and a red top before and my stereo system always killed my red top. the cap protects against long bass notes which really kills a battery and alternator. if you are running a stock electrical system and your headlights are always dim, then you will kill the red top, since it is a starter battery.
the yellow top is much more tougher even though it has less CCA.
bottom line. if you run a high powered stereo, get the yellow top. if not, the red top is fine.
also upgrade your electrical if you run mre than 500 W and have AC, PW, etc..
