The new Crutchfield Catalog
I got the new Crutchfield catalog in the mail yesterday and I saw some cool and not so cool stuff for the New Year. One off the low low lights was the new Sony subs with the funky hexigon shape (it is not on the site yet, but it just looks like a round sub with some of the edges cut off) [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-puke.gif[/IMG] and the new

The new MTX amps look kinda similiar, but they look a lil worse! I don't like the extra writing and the black Zebra strip in the middle...I prefer mine better. It is funny to because it is rated higher then the old model, which I have, but the rating matches what the actual birthsheet rating of my amp is. Is MTX gonna start to be more conservative with their ratings, or are the new amps that much better?
The new Sony amps look better!! It looks like they are trying to make the amps look a lil better, but they should just make it all silver
I don't like the way the new Rockford amps look. But I really like the way the Type RF looks, but ofcoarse crutchfield doesn't sell those [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/IMG]
Kenwood also cam out with a new version of the radio I have, but I can't find the pic. It is kinda funny because mine is the x559, and the new one is the x569, and it has 2 volt outputs and mine has 4.5 volt outputs. But the new one has a better signal to noise ratio, hase a round volume control, and plays MP3s...but I guess two of these do not matter if you have a good CD changer. But mine is 9 years old (Kenwood quality :tup[IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/IMG].

the sony amps do look a little better than before, and the rockfords do look a little uglier, seems like the middle ( the actual amp ) has the same look as my rockford amps, but those end caps are changed, makes the amp look like a box, kinda goofy looking.
any thing else new noticed in the catalog? i already received todays mail, no catalog.

Rep Power: 329 pioneer 6400 HU now 6500, has white screen. still like the blue better though.
alpine has new 9807. looks like replaces 7892. silver instead of black and plays mp3s, same cost as 7892. my friend might get one since he washed the 7892 face plate and it costs 150 to replace that.
i liked the old california series amps by profile better (but i like blue, so...)

Rep Power: 0 Well atleast sony did do one smart thing on the new headunits. No more clips that mount to the side of the deck which hold on the trim ring which used to fall off all the time. They now have a real deck sleeve like everyone else in the market. Unfortunatly I'm sure the quality remained low as with most of their headunits.
The pentagon woofer is kind of a joke tho. Xtant had the hexagon woofer 2 years ago when I was at CES and it looks much better. All these companies are on the "new shape" of a sub hoping that it will sell as well as the kicker L7 squares.
