How do I get rid of Subwoofer Distortion?

I have gone through 3-12 kicker solobaric L5's,and now a 12in Kicker Solobaric L7. I have a 600watt Hifonics amp running the sub and now I just blew the L7, (well it's making a cracking noise when it hits) If anyone knows of any way to stop this please let me know

Clipping is...set your gains properly and get a good HU with a clean signal output

Set the gains at the point where you don't cause clipping..

yup mo is right set your gain correctly, your gain depends on your preamp volts from your HU, by default if you have a 2v set your gain to 1/3, 4.5v and up you can set your gain all the way

Change your gains, check for leaks in your box, check all your connections.. and frayed speaker wire is one of the leading causes to speaker distortion....

What model hifonics amp is it? Their Zeus stuff is entry level and without being properly tuned can cause some pretty good damage.
