Alarm w/remote start...

I need an alarm with a pager/LCD. Can you recommend any brands? I would also like to get remote start on it, but there is one problem... I have a 2k1 coupe with a 5 speed tranny. I can't find anyone to install a remote starter (illegally) for me...

The Clifford Avantguard4 is a legal remote start for a manual tranny. No pager though. This is the way it works:

Before you turn your car off, you press a button on your remote to tell it not to turn off your engine when you turn the key to the off position and take it out. After that, you turn your key and take it out but your car is still running. Then you step out of your car and close the door. Thus your car is left in neutral, obviously, because you aren't in your car and the car is running. Once you arm the car, it shuts off the motor. Pretty tight, huh? This way you can't remote start your car when its in gear. You can play it off as a turbo timer if you want. Also the car is still armed when you remote start your car so if you aren't near your car and someone thinks they can get it they are wrong.

Well... turbos run really hot and make the engine run hotter as well. If you have a turbo I would strongly suggest a turbo timer. When installed, it'll leave your car running for several minutes after you turn the ignition off and pull the key. The time is to whatever you set it to. Up to about 3 min... or was it 5? I can't remember, but it's not a real long time. I think it's 3. Anyway... it just allows the oil to flow through your engine to help cool it down after driving it. Helps prolong the life of the engine. If you don't drive your car hard then you don't have to worry too much about it. So that's how I was relating the remote start for manuals to a turbo timer cause the car would still be running after you turned the ignition off.

Ever start a manual tranny car and forget you left it in gear after you turned it on and dumbed the clutch cause you thought it was in neutral? It jerks forward, right? Think of what happens if you did this while parked in front of another car (or anything else you can park in front of) using your remote start. I don't think it should be illegal but I guess I can see their point.

Look at the Viper 600 w/ paging unit . Or look at the Viper 700 with LCD paging unit either one works perfect, I have had mine for awhile and I have already had the oppurtunity to beat down three punk *** kids who were f*n with my ride in the Aurora area, and just last night at Streets of Woodfield me and two of my friends held one kid down while the cops came out because of him smashing my windows. I got to get a quick warning because of my paging system and the kid doing it was no competetion for three guys almost twice his size, he cried like a goverment mule.

That I knew. But by the sounds of his thread, it looks like where he is that remote starts illegal. I just stoped by one of the shops around here, and the guy gave me a brochure on a new one.
Here is the link to that one, it is called Autostart. I too am looking for an Alarm/remote start, but cant afford it now. Tax return money.
