DIY: Front Speakers
Okay, to start off i pretty much am a newb when it comes to hands on stuff with your car. I know parts but not a damn thing about doing the installs.
With that said, i have a question. Is there some kind of adapter or somethin that i can use to get some 6 1/2's in the front doors. I tired using the one that came with the speakers but its too big. First of all, Will these Fit? Second, what should i use to make it fit?
P.S. If you can refer me to a nicely detailed DIY it would be much appreciated ( I don't need to know how to get everything off of the side of door, i just need to know exactly how to mount the speaker.)

well.. first of all it doesn't do us any good if you don't tell us the speaker you're trying to install.. secondly, yes.. either way you're going to need an adapter, can be bought from crutchfield.. also since i dont' know what speakers, some 6 1/2's need to have the door cut a little in order for it to fit.. if it's too deep, it won't fit either.. max is about 2 3/16 and that will barely fit with a spacer and without getting in the way of the window.. .lastly.. you might want to post in the ICE forum next time.. I have oversized speakers in front. 6.5" I used the Scosche universal speaker spacer. SS65. I also used some XTC foam baffles and a Metra harness to go into the stock plug. Works pretty good, although the XTC foam baffles are a little too big, so they hit the back edge of the door. I might get 5.25" XTC baffles and see if those fit a little better.
hey grey.. do they actually help.. i installed mine with the foam baffles, all it did was create a rattle.. plus the bass response wasn't as good either.. so i took it out and it now it has much fuller bass.. instead, i just wrapped dynamat around the hole.. because the baffle also served as a spacer in addition to the one i had.

Yeah, mine improved the mid range bass, but reduced the low end bass. Plus since they sit up against the back they do make a rattle. Exactly like yours do probably. That's why I want smaller ones. Well, less deep. Whatever.
when i put my speakers in i didn't buy an adapter i just to the stock speakers and cut the speaker and the back plastic out then took some long screws and screwed the speakers straight to the door. did the same for the back speakers too to allow the magnet to miss the trunk hangers.
