how to test door actuator?
how to test door actuator?
My 2002 civic couple driver side door lock doesn't work. All the fuses under hook and desk are still good. So I think maybe the door actuator. I am going to take it out tomorrow. Is there a way to check it to make sure that is the problem before I order one?
Thanks a lot.

Re: how to test door actuator?
The service manual just says to quickly apply and remove voltage to the leads of the actuator. Actuator un-hooked (isolated from wiring harness) Reverse leads (polarity)for up/down operation.
The passengers side in my 05 keeps getting slower and slower, I may need one soon.

Re: how to test door actuator?
Use your meter to see if the correct polarities get there at the right times. Both wires will rest at ground. One will go to 12V in lock, the other will do 12V in unlock. If this all happens it strongly implies the actuator.
At that point, like CraigW said, apply 12V to one side and ground to the other and see if there is any response.

Re: how to test door actuator?
I spend at least 3 hours in the cold to replace it. No room to work on, that damn actuator lie between 2 door frame and i only able use one hand only. Maybe it only happen on '02 EX cp.
