It is just removing the end. Probably 1/2" or so. The stock housing has a metal piece in it shaped the same way. Kind of redundant is the reason why maybe it makes a difference.

yep, same thing i was thinking. if you didn't have the stock shield like we do, then you'd need it.

Re: Interested in PNP HID light kits on E-Bay... which ones??

but it serves no purpose for light spread. it is only to cover the open tip of the bulb so people dont actually see the lit bulb and get blinded. actually since most h4 bulb have a coated front tip, we can take our shield off and it wouldnt affect anything. i tried it on an rsx headlight too that uses open ended h1 bulbs and i still didnt see a difference. the jdm civic lights actually dont even come with one.

If I am reading that right light still comes out the front. Does anyone know if our headlights are adjustable left to right? I can only find up and down! Any ideas on adjustment of this?

yes, there's an adjustment for up and down and one for left/right.

Any idea where on the left right? I found the up/down at the top on an angle that uses a hex key. I can't find anything for left/right? Can you give me a location or picture if you have it?

Re: Interested in PNP HID light kits on E-Bay... which ones??

you can only adjust that on sedan, and there is a plastic cover over the gear you have to pry off. they say you cant technically adjust them left/right due to the nature of the reflector and light source.

couldn't you drill a hole in the brace like the sedan has on the coupe?

the coupe headlamp physically does not have a gear to adjust on the housing. sedan has one but its covered with plastic shield which can be removed with the headlamp off.

Any way to get the headlamp out without needing to take the entire front bumper off? That cover piece that is inside the housing.... How does it get removed? Do you have to seperate the two halves of the housing?

Re: Interested in PNP HID light kits on E-Bay... which ones??

no its a cover on the outside over the gear. the headlamps dont have to come apart, they just need to come off the car. its near impossible to reach it with the headlight installed. this is assuming you have sedan lights. and bumper needs to come off to undo all the headlamp mounting bolts.

as gearbox said, bumper has to come off to remove the headlight housings. and if you're talking about the chrome shield inside the housings, yes, you have to separate the housings to remove that. i dont' recommend doing that though. with our crappy DOT regulations, i'd be willing to bet that the shield is helping the already bad output of the halogens. i don't know how it affects HID's. it may help, may not. i guess if you don't mind doing the work to remove the bumper, bake the headlights to separate them, remove the shield, re-seal the headlights, reinstall them and the bumper and check, then repeat the process if it's worse and you need to reinstall the shield, then go for it. seems like too much trouble for unknown results. i'd say cut the top of the HID shield off, if it doesn't help, JB Weld it back together.

Re: Interested in PNP HID light kits on E-Bay... which ones??

I have messed with the adjustments enough to where I actually kind of like them and think I am staying with them. I am swapping them for a set of 4300K bulbs since I want a tad brighter and plan on taking the front part of the bulb shield off. Should be a go then!

that's cool. is the seller gonna let you swap them out or are you going to have to buy a new set?

if you by chance hooked up one of the ballasts in reverse polarity, then you'll blow the fuse and neither set will work. other than that, 9006 set up is easy. it's not confusing like the H4 setups on the 01-03 civics.

did you try hooking the power and ground directly to the battery? try that and see if they work.
