I plan on getting component 6.5's and a pair of 6x9's im deciding between Infinity or Alpine. For the moment they will be run from the HU untill i can get a 4ch amp but that won't be for at least another month. Thanks
depends which models you are comparing. The infinity perfects component set is a little brighter than the type x and put out a little less bass in my opinion, otherwise i think the type r comps will sound better than the infinity kappa's. 6x9 i have no clue since i never planned on running those
personally, i've always like infinity, they can take way more of a beating....i first got my kappas when knew slim to nothing about car audio. long sotry short, a had a cap explode and take out my amp and 6x9s.....but the kappas survived and sound the exact same, my buddy HAD some type R component and they blew from him setting the crossover wrong. plus, I've hear both and i liked the infinity's sound better, cleaner, more defined.
if you're going for the new infinity kappas, make sure your amp can handle 2ohms cuz that's what they are...i dont think decks willl like seeing 2ohms hooked up to them...
on a side note, i've hooked up a 2ohm load to an alpine vdrive deck and cranked it...deck didn't complain but i have no idea how long it will last in the long term..i dont think decks are made to handle 2ohms...

the alpine type-r series sound like ***. this comming from an hip-hop/trance person.
polk db's are great speakers but lack midbass range.
rockford's punch 6.5" components would probably be a good consideration if your just running thru deck power.
infinity's...never heard their components before.
dont spend too much on the 6x9's...its just a rear fill. just get some decent 2ways or 3ways and be done with it. but make sure you get a nice set of 6.5" components on the doors.

Hey, I have an alpine cde 9845 that puts out 16W RMS x4, and I found that these kappas have a 75 watt @ 2 ohm RMS, would that mean that the deck would effectively be putting out 64 watts @ 2 ohms? Or is there some kind of procedure I'd have to do for it to actually be doing that?
