Which set-up would you prefer?

I plan on getting component 6.5's and a pair of 6x9's im deciding between Infinity or Alpine. For the moment they will be run from the HU untill i can get a 4ch amp but that won't be for at least another month. Thanks

depends which models you are comparing. The infinity perfects component set is a little brighter than the type x and put out a little less bass in my opinion, otherwise i think the type r comps will sound better than the infinity kappa's. 6x9 i have no clue since i never planned on running those

go to a good guys if you have one around, i know they always have carried the bottom to top for comps from both those companies, so then you can listen, but dont buy from them, they arent authorized dealers

I would personally get the infinities, and then get maybe something like a rockford P2 or kicker comp VR to give good clean bass with it.

They are both good speakers, it's all a matter of opinion.

personally, i've always like infinity, they can take way more of a beating....i first got my kappas when knew slim to nothing about car audio. long sotry short, a had a cap explode and take out my amp and 6x9s.....but the kappas survived and sound the exact same, my buddy HAD some type R component and they blew from him setting the crossover wrong. plus, I've hear both and i liked the infinity's sound better, cleaner, more defined.

turboslug will become famous soon enoughturboslug will become famous soon enough
if you're going for the new infinity kappas, make sure your amp can handle 2ohms cuz that's what they are...i dont think decks willl like seeing 2ohms hooked up to them...

on a side note, i've hooked up a 2ohm load to an alpine vdrive deck and cranked it...deck didn't complain but i have no idea how long it will last in the long term..i dont think decks are made to handle 2ohms...

jttegx has a spectacular aura aboutjttegx has a spectacular aura about
the alpine type-r series sound like ***. this comming from an hip-hop/trance person.

polk db's are great speakers but lack midbass range.
rockford's punch 6.5" components would probably be a good consideration if your just running thru deck power.
infinity's...never heard their components before.

dont spend too much on the 6x9's...its just a rear fill. just get some decent 2ways or 3ways and be done with it. but make sure you get a nice set of 6.5" components on the doors.

i agree 100% except i have heard infinity, sounds GREAT for mid's an highs, a little lacking in the mid-bass, but sound good 6x9s cover that up. I actually have Infinity Kappa 6.5s in my vic and love every second of them, best mod i ever did to my stereo excpet my sub.

Hey, I have an alpine cde 9845 that puts out 16W RMS x4, and I found that these kappas have a 75 watt @ 2 ohm RMS, would that mean that the deck would effectively be putting out 64 watts @ 2 ohms? Or is there some kind of procedure I'd have to do for it to actually be doing that?

HU's cannnot, repeat cannot deliver a steady 2 Ohm load and should not be used to power 2 ohm speakers
