Sub flickers in and out: PLZ HELP!!

sup guys. I have never had this problem before but my sub flickers in and out of songs now. Sometimes the bass is on, and then it just completely shuts off. I checked out all the wiring in my trunk, which includes the box, the sub and the amp. I also noticed that my car is giving off alot of electric shocks now when I get out of the car. I dont think it has to do with any wiring in the back of my trunk, i think it might be the head unit?? the flickering if getting less and less and I havent heard my sub for a couple days now. i dunno wats wrong.. plz help if you know whats up.

-thanks

besides shock is normal when its colder it sounds like your amp may be over heating possibly to a bad voice coil.

I also have the same problem with my 15" Kicker. When I push the speaker back, then it bumps (or lay it facing up)...

Mine did that too, but it was an easy fix. I checked my wiring and the ground on the amp kept comin lose so when it would lose its ground it would shut off and when it would touch again it would come back on. So, I know you said you checked the wiring but just try and ground it somewhere else. Let us know how that works.

as they said, when you push on the sub, if it starts bassing again, it might be your voice coil that is f**ked. Take it out of the box, remove the wires on the sub, now put a ohmmeter on the terminals, it should read close to what your subs ohms rating, if it reads more resistance than what your sub is supposed to be or it says OL (overload) it is your voice coil, now try pushing on the sub and look on the ohmmeter, if it starts to read something different, that's your problem. I've seen that happen alot. it might also be the wires going from the terminals to the sub (tinsel wire), check those also.

usually not, only more expensive subs are repairable. some kickers can be fixed but not sure what model.
