Hey, my brother recently installed (from best buy for his first time) a rockford p3001 amp with 2 10" subs. Personally im surprised with quality for such an entry level amp and subs. My questions is, my brother is ruining the stock speakers because he has his volume **** up too high. We hope to spend no more than 200$ cad on new speakers and are unsure whether to get 4 or just 2 for the fronts and take out the rears entirely. Is it possible to get 2 decent sounding 6.5" speakers or would it not fill the car and we should settle on 4 crappier ones. Thanks (04' Civic 4dr)

go back to best buy and buy alpine sps171a. they are all i have running for highs and i have 2 tpe R 12's.

I dont think they carry any alpine stuff at bestbuy in Canada

If you have an after market head unit you could probably get some 6.5" component speakers for around 200 canadian dollars and run them off of the head unit. If you have the factory radio still I wouldn't go this route. I just bought the same sub setup from best buy and I just took out my rear speakers and then put 6.5" components in the front which are running off the head unit for now. The setup sounds quite good, but an amp in the future for the components will make them louder and cleaner.

Yea i have a decent JVC headunit with the 50w preouts or w.e. What components did you buy JB1004? Oh also for the 4dr 2004 Civic, the maximum mounting depth it can have is 2" without having to work with spacers and stuff?

best buy in canada does not carry alpine... the type-r and type-s suck anyway (in mine and many other people's professional opinions).

I don't know much about Infinity but they are nice sounding budget speakers from what I heard about them

The Phoenix Gold speakers you mention are probably the Xenon series if the model is x65. The elite series is a different and much more expensive line. The Xenon however are nice speakers as well. I am a PG nut but have not heard a set of the Xenon's yet.

MB Quart on the other hand makes really nice stuff. The RCE gear is their 2nd line up and is generally pretty nice stuff... these would probably be my choice out of the 3
