just blew my sub
not sure what happened...was playing my audiobahn aw122t with rockford fosgate p5002 which is only 500wattsx1 and the sub could take 550 rms.....so I guess audiobahn is going to replace it with their new model...aw122n....looks differant, but will it be the same?..better? Im wondering if the way i have it installed messed it up....is it bad to install the sub inverted....it just looks so bad ***
installing the sub inverted as long the box was built for it, isnt the problem.
first, it could be because its audiobahn as their known for being low budget equipment and/or two, it could be the way you used the equipment. then theirs the install.
if you dont know yet, rockford amps are underrated meaning they push out more power than the company claims. thats why they give birthsheets to provide the true full potential of the amp in rms and peak ratings. and i can bet that p5002 amp could easily push over 550rms on a good electrical system or on a good day.
sorry to hear the loss, let us know how that new audiobahn sub works out.

yea....I am running 4 guage wires and a 1 fared cap with it also....for 40 bucks audiobahn is replacing it with their new model the aw122n basically the same thing
nothing wrong with invert mounting at all, in relation to probability of blowing the subwoofer.
I think a big issue might be how audiobahn rates their subwoofer power handling. knowing their other ratings, I dont think it iwll be too far a stretch to suggest they might rate power handling by total thermal handling (as opposed to mechanical power handling!). If that is the case, 500 rms could easily push the speaker beyond its physical limits.
youll be fine next time, though, if you turn the gains and volume **** a bit lower.
Simply put, more likely than not you asked your subwoofer to be louder than it was. do you want more bass? you might need another subwoofer or a different one. Otherwise, you should be able to prevent blown speakers in the future by tuning your gain in a more conservative way.
