looks hawt.t hats where i anna mount my subs i think.. 1.5 - 1.7 with sub in. its just enough, kicker said with the solo I can go as big as 3.25 sealed, he said not to go by the spec sheet they sent with it, which is 1.5 sealed. Its probably going sound crappy. But it will look good!

I say put it in...
...side a better box
thats a rad sub and can dish out the SPL... use what you have appropriately. if not, sell it and get an L7 beucase you are wasting huge potential

Yea I know wanted to do the spl thing but, you have to build the large ported box thats tuned to 68 hz or whatever and If you play anything thru lower than that it'll smoke it! so I know, I know. should have just got the L7. I know you'll say as long as I have my crossover set so nothing lower that 68 hz goes thru it will be ok, but those high bass notes sound like kaka!
I am working on my trunk and i was pretty pumped abut that. Your trunk puts mine to shame. i still have abut a week of work to go.. ie i work m-f and i can only work on my car on sat and sun.

I was waiting for luddy to run his mouth on one of my threads, So when its all finished I'll post pics from start to finish and if anyone else wants to run there ffn mouth about me doing the system your more than welcome to come see me work!
As far as your question...............IN was the right choice.
A few ???'s for you:
1. Did you do the box build yourself?
2. Could a first time box-builder do something similar?
3. You said the crossover keeps anything lower than 67 mHz from playing? Why so high?
I ask cuz I've always wanted to build my own box. Yours looks good and will look better when you finish with the paint. I have the knowledge for basic wiring but don't know very much about box building.

Actually Im wrapping it in black vinyl, the build is simple, the crossover setting I was refurring to was if I built the spl box which is ported, but can only be used for spl becuase a box tuned that will sound horrible not to mention that with the solox once you build the spl box you cant really play any notes lower than 68 hz hurtz thru it becuase it will smoke the sub at 2000 rms watts. Technically you play whatever you want thru it just not loud!
As for the build its simple, I went to the junk yard and bought the trunk inserts (the grey carpet things that fit nicely in the corners!) and layed down some plastic over the entire area that your going to do. Then place the carpet piece in place make absolutly sure its in the right spot I mean double check everything then mix up some polyester resin about half gallon worth then soak the entire piece, let it harden then, place your sub on some 3/4" mdf or particleboard which ever you like, trace the shape of the sub(the outside of the rim) then before cutting that out get your sub cut out insert its a templet for your sub to sit in if your sub is round you can use a protractor for this, then cut the inside circle out first, then the outside. You now have one more circle or square in my case to cut out and thats the piece that makes the sub look flushed! which you would then place your sub back on some wood mdf or whatever depending how far in you want your sub to sit you'll have to pic the thickness of wood. Then trace the outside of the rim again but this time use a protractor set to an inch and trace the outside again, cut out the inside then cut out the outside. you would then take the first ring you cut out and with your sub facing up place the ring underneith it and bring up to the rim and bring your other piece that fits around the sub and place it over the sub onto the bottom ring and screw them together. Bring that piece into car where your carpeted piece should now be hard and mount the ring where it visually is pleasing to you making sure that theres nothing in the way of the subs magnet. I used hotglue and a little wood sticks for this, once your sure thats where you want it you can then take the whole thing out of the car.
Now it's out of the car you'll need some fleece, easly purchased at a fabric store. stretch it over the whole ring and backing making sure that there are no wrinkles and fasten it, I used a little hotglue for this as well. Once its tight then soak it with some polyester resin, let it harden. then you will also need some fiberglass matting that you will layer the inside and outside of the box, of course I layered the inside before doing the outside fleece covering. then once you have made it strong enough you can use bondo or evercoat to finish it.
I will have pics from start to finish and you'll be able to see step by step.

i didnt say "you obviously didnt put it in yourself", i said, "you obviously didnt put it in FOR yourself"
i was merely implying the fact that it seems like you purchased a sub for what it looks like, not what it sounds like...
there was no animosity in what i said, I was merely trying to comprehend why you would spend a ton of money on a sub, when it seems like your main intent is aesthetics and not quality.

Anyway I don't understand how you got putting the system in for looks or whatever by me saying it'll probably sound crappy! But then again your the forum expert, I humbly bow before thee!
I originally had built it for 3.25 which would have been musical but it took up the entire trunk, so I already purchased the sub so I just decided to keep my trunk and build the reccomended 1.5 sealed, so when I say it'll probably sound like kaka, I mean that the sub will not perform to its best potential. As for re-building thats not a problem but I guess it would better to hear it first.
I have alot of crud going in the trunk and our trunks are just a tad to small for everything.
Usa2000x
Usa4300x
24xs for sub
2xs for front
2xs for rear
alumapro 15 farad
yellowtop
carputer
2 linear acuators
spare tire
tool kit
If there was a way to astetically built it with 3.25 cubic ft I would have done it for sure.

i dont know you, but from your posts you seem like you actually know what youre doing...
why not try some creative mounting options.
you could put all three audiocontrol pieces on the trunk lid,
you could mount your amps on the underside of the rear deck with some actuators to get em to slide out nicely, but youd have to pop out the torsion bars and replace them with two gas shocks.
also remember that optimas are designed to be able to be mounted on their sides if it opens up more space.
all is possible, about two years ago i had three adire shiva 12's in 6.2 cubes (all mdf, no glass, so it took up a poopload of space.) , a 2xs, some passive xovers, and three amps, and i relocated the spare to under the car.

I guess my main problem is time, Im in between houses waiting for a house loan to go thru. I have not had a radio let alone a system in 2 years thats probably why im so cranky when people post stuff that I think is offensive I go off, My appologies. I have thought about doing all of what you had stated band I think I will when I get my house with my own garage, becuase right now im using my friends garage and I have my garbage all over the place, he can't even use it! So I plan on putting the battery undernieth the car and going bigger on the box but we'll see. I originally wanted to go 601+sq with this:
usa2000x
usa4300x
usa200x
2 - rane 31band 2 channel
rane active 24db crossover
2 - 8"jl audio upfront for midbass
2 - 6"rainbow pro with tweet for front staging
2 - 6"rainbow pro for rear ambiance
13" W7 <--- but my amp kills these its 2000 rms, the smallest bit of distorion and its hit. really the only reason I went with kicker is becuase of its abilty to hang with my amp which I bought 5 years ago at employee discouont when I installed, so Im stuck with em I really dont want to sell them then buy new ones.
