Help! Infinity Kappa 62.5i 2way on 2004 Sedan
Hey guys I want to ask if Infinity Kappa 62.5i 2way speakers will fit perfectly on a 2004 sedan? I want to upgrade all my speakers front and rear.
I wish civic sedans have 6x9 instead of 6 1/2 at the back.

What do you mean by perfectly? That's a tight one, It might fit it might not, search the forum. It's within 1/8" of the mount depth of the door. Either way, worst case scenario is you use an mdf spacer which you can either buy or cut yourself.
Why do you wan't 6x9s instead of 6.5? Are you looking for bass without subs?

Some cars have very loud subs that you can't even hear the vocals anymore.
6x9's aren't a whole lot better at reproducing bass. BTW Infinity's are much better at producing high frequencies than they are at doing bass... I've got the kappa's up front and the bass is pretty anemic for an aftermarket speaker.
i have infinity speakers all around. i think i have the 605cs(i forgot the exact code but it came with tweeters and xovers) and 652i's at the back. removing the door panels were easy. it just takes time

scosche makes an adapter for the 6.5 for the rear 6x9 speakers. I have a set sitting in my garage awaiting speakers. personally, round speakers sound better. i have sony ES 6x9 in my rear right now and my 6.5 sony ES components in the front provide better bass.

Also, If you want a little bass without subs, I believe WhiteRabbit has had good luck using Tangbands but I'm sure the mounting depth would be an issue with the trunk spring rods, you may have to revert to a strut system.

kappa/perfect series = excellent mid/high.
also a 6.5" speaker can make more bass and cleaner than a 6x9 if it was built better!

for the front u have to use the spacers.
and for the rear...i believe only 1hole matches up(not very stable)....so u have to drill 2 new holes to line up w/ the 2 on the speaker
i dont know about the sedan but on the coupe, you can install new 6x9's into the stock location without drilling or using a spacer...
however, trunk springs will be a problem for speakers w/ big magnets
as for fronts, it's almost definite that a spacer is needed. you can get away with not drilling new holes if you make the spacer wide enough to mount where the holes are for the stock speaker. that's what i did but the spacer had to be cut to shape perfectly.. the spacers will get in the way of the door panel if spacers are too wide.

Ok guys I'm convinced that round speakers are better than 6x9's. Thanks for the comments on installing these type of speakers. Appreciated!
So I will need spacers for the two front speakers. (Front speakers solved)
Is there anyone who has a "SEDAN" that has 62.5i kappa rear speakers? If there's someone I'd like to ask if you had any problems installing them?

I am not saying that there are lots of options, I'm just saying that there are speakers you could install in either location without having to use spacers or drill holes. For instance, Infinity Reference series, shallow mount 6.5" REF6002SI, LESS THAN A 2" MOUNT DEPTH!! They go right in, I saw it done recently. I personally would have made baffles for the speakers, but I wasn't doing the install. Power akoustic, Rockford, Pioneer, JBL - they all have speakers with less than a 2" MD. Also, a while back we put, I think it was boston pro series 3-way 6x9s in a civic. The magnets didn't fit with the trunk springs but the speakers lined right up.
on the door, mounting depth isn't the biggest problem. it's the width of the hole in the door. most speakers require a spacer because the hole is so small that the speaker basket wont go through the hole(unless you cut the hole bigger).
i installed alpine type r 5.25" components because i didnt want to cut the hole bigger. even though the speakers were 5.25", they still barely squeezed into the stock hole(very tight fit). i still had to use a 0.75" MDF spacer just to get the basket to clear the sheetmetal. i also had to cut a little tab off of the basket to make them go through the stock hole.
i heard that alpine type s components come with the spacer required to install the speakers into 7th gen civics. you still have to drill holes in the door.

What you guys need to realize is, you are splitting hairs. I didnt' say that there are tons of speakers that snap in like Fking legos! I said you don't always need to cut the metal, use a space and drill holes. Simple statement and It is correct. I'm not saying its good, better, best, sensible, stupid, or anything like that. I'm saying it is POSSIBLE. And, IT IS. Do most speakers require spacers? YES. Do lots require you to cut the doors? YES. But some dont'

This implies that the speaker holes will not be suffice for any speakers. I simply said, that some speakers will fit in the holes. That is all I am saying.
What "Small angle" are we talking about? Does he mean the rear deck? Because the previous posts before were talking about the doors, then came the one I quoted above, I can only assume we are still talking about the 6.5" in the doors . . ?

I'll check out some JL speakers I heard that their good too. Thanks
