Question Fiberglass Enclosure

Does anyone here have a fiberglass enclosure (painted, not carpet)? I'm planning on doing one just want to get some ideas on what design I want. If you have a custom fiberglass painted enclosure please post pics...thanx!

Its not painted its sprayed with bed liner material. But i could have painted it i had it smooth enough to, just thought for duarbility the bed liner material would be better. It dont scratch real easy

I was wanting to make an enclosure for the side of the trunk for a shiva, I want about 1.8 ft^3 sealed, do you think that'd doable for the right or left side wheel well?

I've used masking tape on all my fiberglass projects on the back side so the fiberglass releases. I think they make a product thats specficaly for mold release, but masking tape has always worked for me. Use LOTS and cover more of the area than you think you will need to to make sure you dont get any on carpet/stuff ( if your making kick pannels ). When i make mine i use hot glue gun to build the skeletal frame, and hold the woofer ring in place. After the back mold is all made and the frame work is done ive used a varriety of products to wrap the front of the enclosers like speaker grill cloth, polar fleece, hell, just about any type of fabric i could find. I then use hot glue or stapples to hold the fabric to in place on the back after its wraped. Do a couple layers of Glass, deppending on how thick you need it to be, then finish with bondo or similar product to get the finnal shape that you are wanting. Then finish with paint, vinyl, paint ...whatever! Ive seemed to have lost my pictures of my last few systems ive made had them all saved on a disc and cant find it for the life of me Most showed step by step how-to.

nono, the way to go is to split it into three pieces. That way, you dont have a large seam right in the middle to be an eye sore.

the middle piece extends as wide as possible in either direction but still retains flat sides. then you make two pieces to finish the sides, lay them next to each other, and carpet over it.

the carpet becomes the hinge!

then you can fold hte sides up, insert it into the trunk, then fold them down into place

i fyou look real careful at the WRX pic above, you can see the seams
