Trunk Release won't *unlock* in my 7th gen sedan!
i don't know whats going on but i just locked my sedan trunk and when i went back to unlock the trunk release thing the key turns almost there but doesn't quite 'click' into the unlock section. I fiddled with it...used all my different keys....WD-40'd it countless times...to no avail
so now i'm stuck with a non-functioning trunk release lever in my sedan. So i was wondering if this was a common problem or if anyone could help me out....lemme know please
thanks in advance

I looked at the service info I have, but it's for the coupe and is a different operation.
What is not working ?? The release lever up front or the key that locks it from working (valet lock)
Will the trunk open with a key ??

Well the release lever will not pull up....i locked it and unlocked it but the key does not go in the unlock position i'm using my master key btw. i THINK it's the valet lock mechanism....since the key does not go all the way and it feels stuck..and the lever does not allow you to pull up. It does however push down so i can use my gas release. And yes i can open my trunk with the key...just not the lever

open up the plastic cap where the trunk release is at by driver seat. It's plastic cover where the key goes to unlock it. There is a small lever in there to move. that might halp. If not fold down the seats look where the rod connects to the locking mechanaism. the rod could have come out. Don't ever spray wd40 into locks the mess it up. use graphite powder it works better and actually lubes the interior of the locks. Sorry trying to help i'm buzzing it a bit.
i checked the rod and the rod is working fine....it is definately the lock mechnism that has seized or something. Graphite powder? what is that and where can i get it?
Dunw orry about the buzz bro just hit me back in the morning or something
i appreciate the help!

i had a similar problem. i fixed it by going to office depot and bought one of those ompressed air canisters and just shot a few long sprays into the lock, and it fixed the problem.

I took the cover off mine, at the bottom is a brass color ring that turns as the key turns to lock and unlock the release. I was able to move mine by hand. Check to make sure the white tabs on the lock section are engaging with the brass color ring.
Yeah, take the side sill off because something isn't aligned right.
The trunk lock isn't 100% safe as a thief can just rip out the plastic side sill and unlock the trunk.
When you take it apart you will see how it works and probably notice something didn't fit right.

It really would not take much force (a well placed screwdriver or a good pair of needle nose pliers) and that lock mechanism would be easily bypassed.
Quite a scary thought.

yup, i got jacked like that.. locked the interior thiefs got a screw driver and pried the lock and broke everyting to get to the trunk... i dont think its as easy as people saying just takes force, it doesnt.. you need to do it right in order to get it unlocked... I paid about a 100 for a new lock and whole assembly took me the whole day to redo it cuz if the inside aint aligned right, it wont click(lock)....
