I have never been keen on the dead pedal in the 7th gens. It is always dirty & hard to clean. The carpet to the left on the side of it could also not be kept clean.

So... I modified my pedal with a smoother cover & also made a rubber flap on the left that goes up under the plastic kick panel trim and covers the carpet.

I cut a hole in the cover where the mounting stud is and used a black plastic cap to fill it in.

The cover material is black vinyl base board trim from the hardware store (it still has the factory molded lip on the left side)

Like it, Hate it I don't care. I have had it in for a while and works great and no further damage to the side carpet.

I later added the aluminum trim to cover the nasty looking glue job to the right side (I did not want the cover to work loose and lift on edge and corner)

I had thought about trying to paint or maybe covering the trim in black grip surface tape. Paint will most likely wear quick in that enviroment and the grip surface tape is just another place for dirt to collect.

It is easy to remove, sort of a work in progress still kicking around ideas on the trim.

call me stupid, but i cant get whats left of my old dead pedal out. all thats left is the stud type thing on the right (idiot before me somehow broke it out of the car), and i cant get it out. how is it done? thanks and sorry if its overly obvious but i couldnt get it.

i just changed mine with a new one. you need to remove that nut on the bottom and also that plastic clip thing on the top right. i think you need an allen hex wrench and just turn it out like a screw. you could prolly yank it out with enough force too. thats what happened to mine and it was too loose so i had to get a new clip. it presses on but unscrews back out.

For some reason I dont like the look, maybe if it was all black id like it better, but I get the reason behind it. I ended up just getting a new one.
