Re: noise from timing belt area

I take it you don't know when the timing belt was last changed? It's supposed to be 7 years or 100 000 miles. If unknown good idea to change it.

I can't really tell much about what noise your referring to in the video.

Re: noise from timing belt area

Still can't tell what your on about in the video. RPM specific on mine in the past have been heat shield rattle. The heat shield under the seat area of my car is now being held on with a O ring clamp on one end and wire on the other. Also right there I have a PS pulley that makes a wheezing noise unless I hit it with some WD40 from time to time.

I'm sure it sounds plain as day to you in the video but not to me.

Re: noise from timing belt area

The whir sound? Can you feel it in the lower timing cover?

Is it quieter with the upper cover installed? (why is it missing?)

Re: noise from timing belt area

Has anyone messed with the timing belt recently?
When did this noise start?

If there's a lot of slack in the timing belt it may contact the timing cover
If the timing belt is too tight it can howl

You make it sound as though the noise just started yesterday after you let the engine warm up for 15 minutes?

Is it due for a timing belt replacement?
