Synchro Issue -- Synchromesh?

Forgive me, but I used the search function and didn't find much on the subject here (though I've found a lot elsewhere.)

I've got the 3rd (and fourth) gear synchro issue with my manual tranny and everyone seems to be recommending the GM synchromesh friction modified fluid. However, I've read that the friction modified fluid has been discontinued and everyone was saying that it's the FM formula that helps alleviate the synchro issue for a while. I bought the pennzoil synchromesh fluid and hopefully that will help but I recall people saying that the pennzoil fluid didn't really help like the GM stuff did.

Do you know what people are using these days to help with the synchro problem (other than a tranny job.. I seriously can't afford that these days)?

If you do some more searching on google or other forums you might find that a lot of Honda people say synchromesh is no good. Don't ask why, I just remember reading that. I run regular 80-90W gear lube in mine.

Re: Synchro Issue -- Synchromesh?

I found the synchromesh fluid the other day and since putting it in, shifting does seem smoother. The grinds are still there but I've only put around 30 miles on it since then. All of the posts I've read say that it'll take around a couple hundred miles to make a difference.
