trunk lid issue

I recently had the entire inside of my trunk lid dynamat-ed to kill all of those annoying rattles my JL 12W3 was producing. This made my lid naturally heavier, and the lid wouldn't latch unless you put some effort into shutting it. If I just let it go it would bounce right back up. So now, after I have slammed it shut enough times, the lid is not flush with the rear quarter panels anymore, it is about an 1/8 to 1/4 lower. I plan on replacing the springs with the ones you install when you add the OEM spoiler to handle the extra weight. I was just wondering if any of you have encountered this scenario before and what you did to remedy this problem.

thanks in advance,
CivicRookie

sorry if this should be in vehicle issues/problems, I was thinking along the lines of dynamat=I.C.E.

That has nothing to do with the weight.. the place that dynamatted it for you also adjusted your trunk latch lower.. this is the problem...with our cars it's a must to stop rattling ..even my trunk lid isn't 100% flush anymore because of this..on't sweat it

why dont you try making your latch higher? it might create some rattles tho.

I'm already over it since it just a lower latch issue. My bass has been super clean since I had this work done.

mohawk, have the springs for your trunk started to wear and caused some unexpected knocks on the back of your head because of a heavy lid?

thanks for the feedback
