lock problems

Last night I got out of my car and was walking away as I tried to lock, then arm it. it normally locks on the first push, then beeps on the second push. it wouldnt beep though so i figured something was wrong. i went back to the car and the driver door still wasnt locked, i kept trying and it wouldnt work.

i pushed unlock, they both unlocked, then i tried again and it still wouldnt work on the driver side.

i pushed unlock once more, and this time even the passenger side which was locked, wouldnt unlock.

today at work i tried to unlock it, and with the first click, nothing happened, and with the second click, both unlocked.....i dont know. and when i just got home, i tried to lock it and arm it again, and it wouldnt lock the driver side.

any idea anyone?

Re: lock problems

oh and btw, before anyone says check your battery on the keys, i got inside the vehicle a few times and locked/unlocked and kept having the same problems. one would go down and not the other, and if i pushed them down, they wouldnt go back up sometimes, etc etc.

Re: lock problems

Most likely drivers side actuator, Is the lock **** able to move on the drivers side by hand ?? Try locking the drivers door with the **** and then push lock button twice to check for beep.

The drivers side has a switch so it knows the status of the lock **** being up or down.

Re: lock problems

oh i can push them down or pull them up by hand, yeah, thats no problem.

now when it comes to locking the doors, ive tried to push it down, and while its down i hit the arm button on the keys, and it beeps. the car will beep everytime it knows the little thing is pushed down. but say the lock is up, when i hit lock (whether its the door lock switch button, or the keychain lock button) its like the car tries to pull it down but cant, and it wont beep until its down, which means i have to push it down.

now when it comes to unlocking the doors, if the tabs are pushed down, and i hit the keychain or the door panel switch to unlock it, it seems like it tries but it wont push them up. i have to keep on trying or manually push the tab up by hand, then when i push the unlock button, the interior lights come on (same idea as when the car beeps to let you know its armed, those lights come on to let you know its unlocked)

Re: lock problems

yea its the door lock actuator, i had the same problem about a year ago. easy enough to fix too. the part was about 30$ from the honda dealer so it wasnt too bad.

Re: lock problems

is there a diy article on anything like that in any forum that you guys know of? or if i buy the piece from the dealer, will anything be included that tells me how to go about it?

it actually took 3 pushes this morning to arm it instead of 2, which isnt as bad, and after work it unlocked with 1 push, yay. doesnt change the fact its still crapping out. ill wait a few more days to see.

Re: lock problems

I just replaced mine on Thursday, took maybe 25minutes to do it. Mine was doing the same exact thing, and you don't realize how much you use it until it breaks

Re: lock problems

Gotta be the actuator. My 01 drivers side went last year @ 73000. After 4 months of being lazy, i finally ordered the part from Majestic Honda and replaced it. There is a DIY on here because that's what i used last year. Pretty straight swap...if you have small hands!
